#Jetsetter, by the artist Clementine, belongs to the new series of artworks “Selfless in a Selfie World” with which the artist wonders how it is possible to reflect our digital age in a fine art form. In our current social media inspired culture, everyone finds their own inner-artist by editing images in the palm of their hands. This series is thus comprised of interchangeable art filters that overlay paintings, instantly transforming them, just as with digital filters in platforms such as Instagram.
These fine art filters go beyond limitations set by handheld technology and while embracing the notion of “graphic,” each is painted completely freehand with many layers of paint for an opaque effect. Themes captured range from the concept of reinvention to the conspicuous pucker.
In this new series, the concept of co-creation is locked into an artistic form, reflecting our present sociocultural context while serving a meaningful reference for generations to come.
