Tomoko Nagao is the most important MicroPop and SuperFlat exponent in Italy, deeply influenced by Nara Yoshimoto’s and Takashi Murakami’s art.\u00a0Her artistic practice is innovative, with a constant ironic reinterpretation of themes and subjects taken from the great Western pictorial tradition on the one hand, and from popular and consumerist iconography, both Western and Eastern, on the other.
\nIn this oil painting Tomoko represents Salom\u00e8, a famous painting by Caravaggio, from the early 1600s, of which there are two versions, one at the National Gallery in London and the other at the Royal Palace in Madrid.
