Face 91, by the artist Fabrizio Molinario, is part of the series The People. But it would be better to say The mask, the masks that we carry in and that emerge when the heart is eclipsed and then shine dark stars, envy, sloth, the scream bark.
A lacerating pictorial gesture, which “scratches” the supports through extreme techniques, such as the use of bitumen that contributes to create a gloomy atmosphere, a background in which bright colors, even psychedelic, stand out. Congested faces also have a domestic nuance of irony that would be benevolent, but easily slip into the invective for a present in which the “masks” prevail over the truth, in which we are all easy to anger or at least to disappointment.
