Central Park, Manhattan – painting
Antonio Franchi’s painting sets up a constructive and progressive dialogue, free from dogmatic techniques, between color and place. The site map is from Google Maps and Google Earth; a re-elaboration (the “aerial synthesis”) is then developed, placing the color in the center of the work.
The existence of the subject (the place) is only perceived, whereas color constitutes the means for evoking the place, at the same time constituting the essence of the work.
The color, pasty, flowing, invasive with its lighting effects, takes the place of things and evokes the specific place recalled in the title of the work, through the solicitations that memory and imagination of each one come to receive from the impressions given by the chromatic alchemies.
