Dovuts Saved – painting

During the last years, the artistic production of Michele Tombolini has focused on relevant contemporary social issues, as can be seen also in a recent series of works strongly influenced by the artistic mood of Berlin. Issues such as child abuse and immigration, where the subjects are portrayed through the use of dull and opaque colors in contrast with the strongest and most accessible ones used in the background. Moreover, the black cross on the mouth is to highlight the censorship and the impossibility of communicating caused by our society’s taboos. The final message, however, of all his works is positive: the wings are in fact indicating the possibility of taking flight and getting rid of a situation of hardship and difficulty.
