Zurich Airport – painting

Zurich Airport, by the artist Antonio Franchi, belongs to the “aerial synthesis” collection, where abstract expressionism manifests itself through brightly colored luminosity and backgrounds supported by an idea of geometric definition.
The site map is from Google Maps and Google Earth; a re-elaboration is then developed, placing the color in the center of the work.
The existence of the subject (the place) is only perceived, whereas color constitutes the means for evoking the place, at the same time constituting the essence of the work.
The color, pasty, flowing, invasive with its lighting effects, takes the place of things and evokes the specific place recalled in the title of the work, through the solicitations that memory and imagination of each one come to receive from the impressions given by the chromatic alchemies.
